Recording a student as ineligible for special education services

If a student has been initially referred and is found ineligible before receiving services, he or she must be recorded as ineligible in SESIS.

Note: Students who no longer need the services they are currently receiving must be declassified in SESIS.

To record a student as ineligible for special education services

  1. Locate the student's profile.
    How?

  2. From the Actions bar, click Documents.

    A list of all documents for the student appears.

  3. Select from below.

    If... Do this...
    You already know that the student is ineligible for special education services
    1. From the Create New Document drop-down menu, choose Ineligible for Special Education Services.

    2. Click the Go button.

    3. Click the Create button.

      The Ineligible for Special Education Services document document opens.

    4. Make any necessary edits and click the Save button.

    5. Create a fax coversheet for the Attendance page.
      How?

    6. Fax the coversheet and signed Attendance page to SESIS.
      How?

    7. Finalize the Ineligible for Special Education Services document.
      How?

    8. Click the Send/Print button.

    9. Complete the event log.
    You are not sure yet if the student is ineligible for special education services
    1. Proceed to step 4.

  4. Click Individualized Education Program (IEP).

    The IEP document appears.

    Note: If the IEP document does not appear on the list, create a new IEP document.

  5. From the Actions bar, click the Select drop-down ().

  6. From the pop-up menu, click Cover Page.

    The Cover Page section of the IEP appears.

  7. From the Actions bar, click Edit this Section.

  8. Next to the Date of IEP field, click the calendar () icon and choose the date the IEP was created.

    Note: The date should match the date of the IEP meeting.

  9. Complete the Disability Classification section.

  10. Click the Save, Done Editing button.

  11. Determine if SESIS displays a link to complete the Ineligible for Special Education Services document.

  12. Select from below.

    If... Do this...
    Yes, SESIS displays a link to the Ineligible for Special Education Services document
    1. Click the link to complete the Ineligible for Special Education Services document.

      The Ineligible for Special Education Services document document opens.

    2. Complete the document.

    3. Click the Save button.

      The Present Levels of Performance and Individual Needs section of the document appears. The section is prepopulated if it was completed as part of the draft IEP.

    4. Make any necessary edits and click the Save button.

    5. Create a fax coversheet for the Attendance page.
      How?

    6. Fax the coversheet and signed Attendance page to SESIS.
      How?

    7. Finalize the Ineligible for Special Education Services document.
      How?

    8. Click the Send/Print button.

    9. Complete the event log.

    10. Delete the student's IEP document.
      How?
    No, SESIS did not display a link to the Ineligible for Special Education Services document This student is eligible for special education services.
    1. Complete the IEP process.
