Completing the Level 1 Vocational Interview - Parent/Guardian

The Level 1 Vocational assessment is a determination of a student's vocational skills, aptitudes, and interests. The assessment incorporates information gathered from the student, parents, guardians, teachers, and school records. Three separate interviews are conducted to complete this assessment:

A Level 1 Vocational assessment is required for all initially referred students age 12 or older. It must be part of the information considered at the review of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for all students receiving special education services who will turn 12 by the end of December in that school year.

To complete the Level 1 Vocational Interview - Parent/Guardian

  1. Verify that the student is 12 years or older.

    Note: The Level 1 Vocational assessment is not required for students under age 12.

  2. Locate the student's profile.
    How?

  3. Click Assessment Planning.

    The Assessment Planning document appears.

  4. Review the Assessment Planning document and determine if the three Level 1 Vocational assessments have been added (student, parent/guardian and teacher).

    Important: During the pilot, the parent/guardian assessment is not available to be added to the Assessment Planning document. The teacher and student assessments should be added and then all three documents may be added to the student's SESIS record on the Documents page.

  5. If the Level 1 assessments have not been added to the Assessment Planning document, add them now.
    How?

  6. From the Actions bar, click Documents.

    A list of all documents for the student appears.

  7. From the Create New Document drop-down, choose Level 1 Vocational - Parent.

  8. Click the Go button.

  9. Click the Create button.

  10. Click the calendar () icon next to the Date field and select today's date.

  11. Complete all fields in the Vocational Needs section.

  12. Complete all fields in the Independent Living/Personal Management section.

  13. Complete all remaining sections.

  14. Type the parent or guardian's name on the appropriate line.

  15. Click the calendar () icon next to the Date of Assessment field and select the appropriate date.

  16. Click the Save, Done Editing button.
