Completing the IEP: Measurable Annual Goals section
Each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) is comprised of many sections. The Measurable Annual Goals section appears on all IEPs for all students.
This section identifies the goals the student will work to achieve as he or she receives the services identified by the IEP. The goals identified in this section directly relate to the deficiencies identified in the Present Levels of Performance and Individual Needs section. Achievement of these goals is a determining factor when evaluating whether the services provided by the IEP are effective.
Tips
- When the IEP is printed, each goal prints on a separate page.
- The IEP Progress Report section only appears in the Measurable Annual Goals section after the IEP document has been finalized. The frequency for progress reports is identified in the Reporting Progress to Parents section of the IEP.
- If it is indicated that the IEP team will recommend alternate assessment, additional fields will appear and you must indicate short term objectives.
