Completing the Behavior Intervention Plan

A Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) is completed for students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) who may need behavioral support. If the FBA concludes that the student would benefit from behavioral modification, the IEP team creates a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), which includes a description of the problem behavior, a hypothesis as to why the problem behavior occurs, and intervention strategies to address that behavior. The BIP is implemented along with the IEP.
