Completing the IEP: Participation in State and District-Wide Assessments section
Each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) is comprised of many sections. The Participation in State and District-Wide Assessments section appears on all IEPs for all students.
This section identifies whether the student will participate in State- and district-wide assessments alongside non-disabled students. If a student does not participate in the standardized tests, an alternate assessment is identified in this section and a statement is provided on why.
To complete the Participation in State and District-Wide Assessments section of the IEP
- Locate the student's profile.
How?
- From the Actions bar, click Documents.
A list of all documents for the student appears.
- Click Individualized Education Program (IEP).
The IEP document appears.
Note: If the IEP document does not appear on the list, create a new IEP document.
- From the Actions bar, click the Select drop-down ().
- From the pop-up menu, click Participation in State & District-Wide Assessments.
The Participation in State and District-Wide Assessments section of the IEP appears.
- Indicate whether the student will participate in the same State and district-wide assessments as general education students.
- If an alternate assessment is selected, identify the alternate assessment and provide a statement explaining why the student cannot participate in the regular assessment.
Important: If alternate assessment is recommended, short term objectives must be entered in the Measurable Annual Goals section.
- Click the Save, Done Editing button.
