Reviewing a case that has been deferred to Central in SESIS (Principal/CSE chairperson)

When a case is deferred to Central, the principal or Committee on Special Education (CSE) chairperson must review the case and certify it. Central will not review the case until it has been certified by the principal or CSE chairperson.

Important: This procedure is to be performed by the principal or CSE chairperson. IEP team users do not have appropriate access rights in SESIS to perform these steps.

To review a case that has been deferred to Central in SESIS (Principal/CSE chairperson)

  1. On the SESIS home page, click the Status of Cases Deferred to Central report.

  2. Locate a student with an approval status of Pending Certification.

  3. Click the student's name to view his or her profile.

  4. From the Actions bar, click Documents.

    The Documents page appears.

  5. Click Defer to Central Package.

  6. Review all sections of the document including any supporting documentation that may have been faxed into SESIS.

  7. Select from below.

If... Do this...
You find that the evaluations were conducted on the dates shown by the persons stated, that the evaluations were considered in accordance with the standards cited, and that the IEP and and LRE statement conform to the requirements.
  1. From the Actions bar, click the Select drop-down () icon.

  2. From the pop-up menu, click Assurance Checklist.

    The Assurance Checklist section appears.

  3. At the bottom of the section, check the I Certify checkbox.

  4. Click the Save, Done Editing button.

The Status of Cases Deferred to Central report has been updated.

You find that the evaluations were not conducted on the dates shown or not by the persons stated or that the evaluations were not considered in accordance with the standards cited, or that the IEP and and LRE statement do not conform to requirements.
  1. From the Actions bar, click the Select drop-down () icon.

  2. From the pop-up menu, click Assurance Checklist.

    The Assurance Checklist section appears.

  3. At the bottom of the section, check the I do not Certify checkbox.

  4. Click the Save, Done Editing button.

  5. From the Actions bar, click More Actions.

  6. From the pop-up menu, choose Change Status of This Document.

  7. From the Change Status from Review to drop-down menu, choose Final.

The Status of Cases Deferred to Central report is updated.
