Reviewing the Status of Cases Deferred to Central report

When a case is deferred to Central, the Status of Cases Deferred to Central report is updated with the current status of the referral. The Individualized Education Program (IEP) team and Central review the report to monitor the status of the referral.

To review the Status of Cases Deferred to Central report

  1. On the SESIS home page, click the Status of Cases Deferred to Central report.

  2. Choose the appropriate school location, if necessary.
    How?

  3. Locate the appropriate student and determine his or her approval status.

  4. Select from below.

    If... Do this...
    The student's approval status is Pending Certification The principal or Committee on Special Education (CSE) chairperson has not yet certified the request.
    1. Continue to monitor the Status of Cases Deferred to Central report.
    The student's approval status is Not Certified The principal or Committee on Special Education (CSE) chairperson did not certify the request.
    The student's approval status is Pending Review The principal or Committee on Special Education (CSE) chairperson has certified the request but Central has not yet made a decision on the request.
    1. Continue to monitor the Status of Cases Deferred to Central report.
    The student's approval status is Approved The referral was approved. Central will work with the parent or guardian to locate a placement for the student.
    The student's approval status is Disapproved The referral was disapproved.
    1. Reconvene the IEP team to modify the IEP if necessary and to locate an appropriate public school placement for the student.
    The student's approval status is Returned to IEP Team Central needs more information before making a decision on the referral.
    1. Click the student's name to view his or her profile.

    2. From the Actions bar, click Documents.

      The Documents page appears.

    3. Click Defer to central Package.

    4. From the Actions bar, click the Select drop-down ( ) icon.

    5. From the pop-up menu, click Central Response.

    6. Review the Additional Information field to see what Central has requested.

    7. Update the document with the requested information.

      Note: If the information cannot be submitted through this form, send the documents to Central.

    8. Click the Save, Done Editing button.

    9. From the Actions bar, click More Actions.

    10. From the pop-up menu, choose Change Status of This Document.

    11. From the Change Status from Draft to drop-down menu, choose Review.

    12. Complete the additional fields, if desired.

    13. Click the Accept button.

      Central will review the additional information.

    14. Continue to monitor the Status of Cases Deferred to Central report.
