Completing the IEP: Present Levels of Performance Individual Needs section
Each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) is comprised of many sections. The Present Levels of Performance section appears on all IEPs for all students. This section outlines how the student is currently performing and is the baseline for developing measurable goals.
There must be a direct relationship between the Present Levels of Performance and other components of the IEP. For example, if a deficiency in reading is described, this learning difficulty should be addressed by identifying measurable annual goals related to this area and the services that should be provided to obtain these goals.
Tips
- Click the Access ARIS link to view the student's recent exam scores and reports to assist in documenting present levels of performance.
- Some fields, such as Instructional/Functional Levels, only appear when in Edit mode. You will not see these fields when in View mode. Click the Edit This Section link to view these fields.
