Correcting a future dated IEP

CAP will not accept an Individualized Education Program (IEP) created and finalized in SESIS if certain types of information on the IEP are missing or conflict with its rules. When CAP rejects the IEP record, it provides a code that indicates the type of error.

CAP will reject an IEP if it is finalized with an IEP meeting date that is in the future. To correct this error, the IEP must be reconvened.

To correct a future dated IEP

  1. In SESIS, reconvene the IEP.
    How?

  2. View all IEP sections in Edit mode for completeness and make any necessary revisions.

Note: You must view all sections in Edit mode, even if no changes are required before the IEP can be finalized.

  3. On the Summary Page, type a date in the Date of IEP field that meets the following criteria:

  4. Review the Recommended Special Education Program/Services section, and look for these common mistakes:

  5. Finalize the IEP.

  6. If the case is an initial referral or a reevaluation, review the Assessment Planning document to verify that the date of the parent's or guardian's consent is earlier than the IEP meeting date.

Note: The date of consent should indicate the date the parent or guardian gave consent and not necessarily the date the consent form was faxed into SESIS.

Once the IEP is completed correctly and finalized in SESIS, the data should appear in CAP within 48 hours. In some cases it may take up to four business days.
