Inviting a student to the IEP meeting
Students who are 14 years or older must be invited to their own IEP meetings.
SESIS does not yet contain this functionality but it will be added in a future release. SESIS will not prompt the case manager to complete this task. The individual must know of the requirement to invite the student.
To invite a student to the IEP meeting
- Verify that the student is 14 years or older.
Important: Students who are younger than 14 are not invited to the IEP meeting.
- Create the student invitation to the IEP meeting and print a copy.
Note: Your schools may its own version of this letter. Until this functionality is integrated into SESIS, use your school's existing templates.
- Locate the student's profile.
How?
- From the Actions bar, click Documents.
A list of all documents for the student appears.
- From the Create New Document drop-down menu, choose Documents Related to IEP.
- Click the Go button.
- In the Comment field, type Student invitation to IEP Meeting then click the Create button.
The document appears.
- From the Actions bar, click Print.
- From the pop-up menu, click FAX Coversheet.
- From the Category drop-down menu, choose Documents Related to IEP.
- From the Form drop-down menu, choose Documents Related to IEP.
- Click the calendar (
) icon and choose today's date.
- Click the Print button.
The fax coversheet appears in Adobe Acrobat.
- In Acrobat, click the print (
) icon.
The Print dialog box appears.
- Choose the appropriate printer and click the OK button.
The fax coversheet prints.
- Fax the letter and the coversheet into SESIS.
How?
- Mail the student invitation to the IEP meeting to the student.
- In SESIS, create a manual event with the following details:
- Event Description: Sent IEP meeting invite to student today.
- Link event to document: Documents Related to IEP.
- Click the Accept button.
